What is Lidocaine?

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic (numbing medicine) that is routinely used by dentists and is also available “over the counter” in a cream or patch form to help with localized pain. The intravenous (IV) form of lidocaine is usually administered by anesthesiologists and physicians trained in using IV lidocaine, with blood pressure, pulse, EKG, and level of consciousness being monitored.

What conditions are treated by IV Lidocaine?

Pain resulting from the following conditions have shown to respond to IV Lidocaine:

  1. Chronic Headaches

  2. Diabetic Neuropathy

  5. Chemotherapy Induced Neuropathy (CIN)

  6. Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Who administers IV lidocaine?

How long is an IV Lidocaine Infusion?
